Donald K. “Bro” Sanborn, 61, Abbottstown, entered into God’s eternal care on Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2007. He was the husband of Myrna L. (Winand) Sanborn, to whom was married for 12 years.

He was born on Jan. 2, 1946 in Bangor, Maine. He was the son of the late Ralph Sanborn and Grace Howard. He worked at McDermitt’s, running the asphalt plant for 31 years.

He honorably served in the Vietnam War as an Army paratrooper for the 101st Airborne Unit. Don joined the Fraternal Order of Eagles #1562 in Gettysburg on April 17, 1984. Since that time, he served on the building and interview committees, often the chairman. Don devoted tireless hours to help increase the membership. Also helped in the Eagles to acquire and move into its new Aerie home in Gettysburg. He also belonged to the following clubs; Past Commander of the Gettysburg V.F.W., Gettysburg American Legion Post 202, Gettysburg Elks and the Hanover American Veteran Post 22.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his daughters, Sharon McKee of Maine, Robin Oden, Virginia; son Scott Winand, Hanover; four grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; a sister, Linda Merithew, Arizona; and a brother, Allen Sanborn, Maine.
